During Friday’s Grand Opening ceremony at the new ALLSTAR Boxing gym, trainer Jose Hernandez, Jr., along with boxer Paco Saldana, gave a few demonstrations of some of the training that will go on for those who enroll in his program. Along with his father and co-owner, Jose Hernandez, Sr., the new facility officially opened on October 25th at 6:00. During the ceremony enrollments were already in the double digits. Jose Jr’s. longtime trainer Larry Christian, from the Lake Villa/Lindenhurst area, was also in attendance along with his wife.
Hernandez Jr. is a Golden Glove winner and you can see in the video that he knows his stuff as he spars with Paco without any protective gear on. Hernandez Jr. grew up in the Round Lake area and has been boxing since he was 15 years old. He has fought on HBO and ESPN many times. His career has led him to fight the undercard of one of the biggest pay per view fights, Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather.
Besides the boxing gym Falling Stars, Inc. is hoping to add dance, music and other extracurricular activities to the program. They are located at: 400 W. For individuals age 10 years and younger the cost is currently $30/month. with the fee increasing to $40/month for those over 10 years of age. Besides boxing they offer other types of training including fitness, health, discipline, conditioning, nutrition, strength, mentality, power, motivation, and several other types.
