On August 11, 2014, Avon Township held their regularly scheduled monthly Board meeting. Supervisor Lisa Rusch gave her report which consisted of an update on the window replacement progress as well as an update on bids to remodel the bathrooms. She also pointed out that the new defibrillation equipment, for responding to life-threatening cardiac arrest, were now in place at both the Township Center as well as the Highway Department and that most everybody had gone through proper training. Rusch also announce that the 5th Annual Touch-A-Truck event would take place on Saturday, September 27th at the Township Center from Noon until 4:00 PM. This has always been a fun event for both the children as well as the adults. Participants will be the fire departments, libraries, park district, police departments, highway department, and the Villages. Rusch announced that the electric signboard in front of the Center is now working properly after being moved closer to the building due to the future widening of Washington Street in front. Rusch also mentioned that the Township Center had returned to regular hours which are Monday through Thursday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
Highway Commissioner Bob Kula gave his report. Avon Assessor Chris Ditton reported that tax assessment notices would be mailed out on August 13th and would also be published on August 14th. The last day for protesting your assessment will be September 12th. Clerk Jeanne Kearby gave an update on the changes that have taken place under her guidance and everyone agreed that the changes were commendable.
A special presentation was made by Cindy Pagano explaining the new Top Box Foods Express pilot program that will be starting in our area on September 13th. I will be posting more information separately on this topic since it is a very important undertaking that will benefit so many local residents with no restrictions on income or needs. You can watch Cindy’s presentation starting around the 26 minute mark in the video below.
