The Avon Township officials held their monthly board meeting on August 12, 2013, and discussed numerous items on the agenda. Those included reports from the various department heads, approving pre-paid and outstanding bills, approving expenses for several people to attend a GATI training seminar, setting a date for this years Touch-A-Truck, setting a date for a follow-up meeting to this years Annual Town Hall meeting, and discussion on the Avon Township food pantry and the Avon Township Foundation.

After that discussion, the board members went into a short executive session. When they emerged, they approved items discussed which included the hiring of Richard McDaniel (sp) but no details on what capacity, hours, or hourly pay were mentioned in open session. Wendy Warden, President of the Foundation, made a statement regarding the Foundation’s success in running the food pantry (which was also mentioned by several Trustees) and invited the Trustees to become active board members of the Foundation. Warden handed me a nice 3-page history of the food pantry and its evolution which you can view HERE.

The meeting wouldn’t be complete without Supervisor Lisa Rusch’s husband doing his Rodney King “Can’t we all just get along” interpretation, scolding (but with a smile) the board members and telling them what they did wrong during the meeting and how they should have done it. At least he didn’t get down on his knees tonight and beg.
