Park District Cuts Ribbon for Yingling-backed Project

Illinois State Representative Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, joined directors from the Round Lake Area Park District and the ​Shaw Subdivision Improvement Club for a ribbon-cutting event over the weekend at Shaw Park. The group celebrated the park district’s new grounds, a project made possible by grant funds Yingling helped secure. “From open spaces and playgrounds for our youth to run around and have fun, to hosting picnics with our family and friends, our local parks are an invaluable part of our community,” Yingling said. “I was thrilled to join the Round Lake Area Park District’s directors and neighbors at this ribbon cutting ceremony, and I am proud to have helped make this exciting new development a reality.” Yingling represents the 62nd District, which contains portions of Ga

40 Years of Fun Block Party on Saturday July 26th The Round Lake Area Park District is celebrating its 40th year of bringing quality recreational programs to our community. In honor of this special achievement, they hope that you will join them at their  "40 Years of Fun Block Party" for an afternoon of music, fun and games at Hart's Hill Park from 11:00 AM to  5:00 PM. This celebration will also showcase all that the Round Lake Area Park District has to offer, including child care, athletics, etc. Hope to see you there! Staley Da Bear tells kids to "Bear Down on Bullies" Kids attending various summer camp programs being offered by the Round Lake Area Park District got a real treat Friday morning with a visit from Chicago Bears mascot "Staley Da Bear" and his handler, Hailie Meyer. Summer campers involved in Summer Trails School Age Day Camp, Trailblazers Special Rec. Camp, Theater Camp, Dance Camp, Teen Camp, and C.I.T. (Counselor-in-Training) Program were entertained for almost an hour as Hailie and Staley Da Bear talked about dealing with various types of bullying and how best to prevent and deal with it when it happens. Open House at the RLA Park District Prairie Grass Nature Museum

Free Event from 10:00 until 12:00 Celebrate the start of summer and learn more about the Round Lake Area Park District Nature Museum. There will be plenty to see and do outside as well as inside and also a good time to learn more about "bats". You should be able to squeeze this fun event in before you head over to the Round Lake BeachFest which doesn't open until 1:00 on Saturday. Hope to see you bat fans at the Prairie Grass Nature Museum located at 860 Hart Road in the Aquatic Center building. There is plenty of parking.

2nd Annual RLA Park District Family Fishing Event

The Round Lake Area Park District held their 2nd Annual Family Fishing Event sponsored along with the Huebner Fishery Management Foundation. Parents and children of all ages spent the day fishing, playing and enjoying our local treasure; Round Lake. There were kids games and activities, entertainment, live music and food. If you did not have your own fishing equipment, they had plenty of fishing poles to loan out along with a few worms. Free boat rides around the lake were also a popular addition this year thanks to the new pontoon boat purchased with funding from the Huebner Fishery Management Foundation.

Soccer Fest 2014 / Kick-A-Thon Fundraiser

On May 3, 2014, AYSO Region 428 Soccer starts off "Soccer Fest 2014" with a Kick-A-Thon Fundraiser for the National Games. The event will be held at Harts Field, 814 Hart Road in Round Lake from 6 AM to 6 PM. Members of the U16 Boys and U19 Girls National teams will be kicking a ball continuously to raise funds for the 50th Anniversary National Games to be held in Torrance California this July. As part of Soccer Fest 2014, AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) is also holding the world’s largest pickup soccer game, along with food and raffles. Soccer Fest, sponsored by Dole, will host vendors such as Key Lime Cove, Chicago Fire, Chicago Red Stars, Soccer Paradise, Quick Stick Lacrosse, and the Round Lake Park District. AYSO Region 428 celebrates 30 years serving the Round Lak
