D46 Superintendent Ellen Correll Gets Letter of Reprimand

Round Lake Area News, Village of Grayslake
The Daily Herald has reported that Grayslake Elementary District 46 Superintendent Ellen Correll received a letter of reprimand from board members due to her political emails before the April 5 election. Libertyville attorney Richard Mittelman, hired by the board to investigate, determined that Correll didn't commit ethics violations as charged in a complaint filed by Lennie Jarrett of Round Lake Beach. This didn't sit well with several of the board members who also questioned why Mittelman failed to attend the meeting. You can read the entire Daily Herald article HERE.

Superintendent Ellen Correll: It’s All The Daily Herald’s Fault!

Round Lake Area News, Village of Grayslake
Wikipedia describes "Psychological Projection" as "a psychological defense mechanism where a person unconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts, and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, such as to other people" and goes further in saying "avoiding the discomfort of consciously admitting personal faults by keeping those feelings unconscious, and by redirecting libidinal satisfaction by attaching, or "projecting," those same faults onto another person or object." A reader of this blog submitted the following: ~~~~~~~~~~start~~~~~~~~~~~ Among the many incredible revelations in the email trail is how a member of the Illinois Education Association (IEA) and National Education Association (NEA) teacher unions unsuccessfully attempted to get re-elected to the Grayslake District 46 School Board. This IEA/NEA member was the President of the Grayslake District 46

According to an article in today's Daily Herald, the newly elected District 46 Board members may be the ones deciding the fate of their school superintendent, Ellen Correll. Board president, Mary F. Garcia, who lost her bid for reelection, is recommending that the superintendent's contract extension be voted on by the incoming Board. Their first meeting would be May 3rd but according to the article, newcomers Shannon Smigielski and Kip Evans stated that they would be unable to vote that soon without doing some researching and reviewing first. They have asked that the vote be delayed to at least May 18th to give them time to make an informed decision. We had posted back on Dec 10th about Superintendent Ellen Correll's decision to give $435,000 of the $733,028 received in stimulus mone
