Tis’ the season, and at Murphy Elementary, in Round Lake Park, the halls are buzzing with notes from Christmas classics and new tunes to delight.
“This is a chance for the community to hear Christmas songs, both well-known and seldom heard, sung in concert by the third, fourth, and fifth grade Performing Arts Classes!” said Music Teacher, Mike Dvorak.
The elementary students welcome you to join their festivities as they host a 3 part, bilingual Christmas extravaganza for the community.
The celebration begins with Cookies With Santa, on Tuesday, December 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Guests will get a chance to meet Santa Clause, sing Christmas carols and nibble on tasty treats.
On Wednesday, December 18th enjoy the warmth of Christmas tradition in a two part celebration. At 6:30 p.m. the fourth grade Performing Arts Class will present The Talking Burro, a play with music and dance derived from Las Posadas, a cultural celebration from Mexican Christmas tradition. At 7:15 p.m. begins the second portion of the night, with Christmas In America, performed by the third grade Performing Arts Class. Both performances will happen in the school gymnasium.
Last but not least is “Miracle at Murphy School”, on Thursday, December 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the gym. The fifth grade Performing Arts Class will debut their musical play, featuring the discovery made by Murphy faculty on the positive effects of music at Murphy School in the month of December.
The event is open to the public and is free to attend.
