First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries – school, public, academic and special – participate.Starting on Sunday , April 12, 2015 patrons who have a $0.00 balance on their account or apply for a new library card will have the opportunity to enter an e-reader giveaway for National Library Week. Patrons will have until 5:00 p.m. on April 18, 2015 to enter. The winner will be notified on Monday April 20, 2015. Patrons may enter the giveaway once daily in person at the library for a maximum of 7 entries. For more information contact the Circulation Department at 847-546-7060.
