In case you missed the lively League of Women Voters debate between two well qualified contenders for Lake County State’s Attorney, Chris Kennedy and Mike Nerhein, I have included it below. They both spoke about the need to make the office more transparent and to bring credibility back due to the recent string of over-turned cases using DNA. Both Democratic candidate Kennedy and Republican candidate Nerheim are practicing attorneys. Kennedy mentioned spending most of his normal days defending clients and working on plea deals whereas Nerheim said that he is in court almost everyday pleading his clients case against the State’s attorneys assigned to cases.
Both did an excellent job of explaining their platforms which were quite similar so it may be very hard for voters to make their decision on who to vote for on November 6th.
The moderator for the debate was Judy Hoffman from the Evanston LWV.
