RLAS-116 & Round Lake Area Exchange Club Co-Sponsor Senior Event at Oak Hill Supportive Living Community
Newly appointed Round Lake Middle School 8th Grade Mentor students joined a group of seniors from the Oak Hill Supportive Living Community in Round Lake Beach this afternoon for some games of BINGO. 20 students and 15 seniors attended the event.
The students created the design and selected the colors for their T-shirts
Mentor Club sponsor, Diane Gleeson stated, “I am always so proud of the students that participate in this club. I think they got as much out of this event today as the seniors did. Just watching the smiles appear on the faces of all in attendance and seeing the special connections that were made means so much. Making these community connections is so important.”
The Round Lake Middle School 8th Grade Mentor Club will consist of 70+ students this year. The group is responsible for several important school/community projects throughout the school year. Some of these events include 6th grade orientation, welcome back dances, honor roll nights, open house, etc.
The newly adopted RLAS-116 5-Year Strategic Plan includes a strong focus on student leadership and involvement within the community. All of our schools will be participating in similar community outreach events this school year through a Community Partners in Education program established by the Round Lake Area Exchange Club and the District. The Round Lake Area Exchange Club has committed to funding the Community Partners in Education program.
