Cub Scout Super Pack 199 of Round Lake will hold their annual Pinewood Derby on Saturday February 15th, 2014 at the Round Lake Area Park District’s Robert W. Rolek Community Center 814 Hart Road, Round Lake, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Cub Scout’s aging 6 to 10 will be racing their pinewood cars as Cub Scouts have done since May of 1953, some 61 years ago at the Manhattan Beach Scout House in California. Don Murphy, who started the tradition as Cub Master of Pack 280c in Manhattan Beach California, would be proud to see the tradition continuing with today’s Cub Scouts.
Super Pack 199’s 30 year old track can be contested as being one of the better track design’s. It has a 54 inch high first drop at 60 degree’s and 32 feet long with a 18 inch hump in the middle and 5 lanes. Cub Scout Super Pack 199 is proud to be continuing this long time Scout family tradition as families, fathers, and sons have for decades.
