Did D116 Violate the Terms of the Kearby Settlement Agreement?

$16,500 Settlement Details Revealed by School Officials

Although the terms of the $16,500 Settlement Agreement between Kim Kearby, the Education Association of Round Lake, and the Board of Education of Round Lake Community Unit District No. 116 was to remain confidential, it appears as though the School Board may have violated that agreement when they made it available to the public by including it in their agenda packet for Monday night’s Board meeting.

According to the terms of the agreement the Board was required to take formal action at an open session meeting of the Board to approve the agreement. However, the Board and Association were ONLY allowed to reveal the terms to their insurers, attorney’s, auditors, accountants, and business managers as required by law. Otherwise they were supposed to simply state that “these matters were settled to the satisfaction of the Parties”.
