Local businessman, Michael Carbone, officially kicked off his bid for Lake County Board District 16 with a fundraiser and canned food drive on December 1st at Lake’s Bowl in Round Lake. Having completed his petition filing this week Carbone, running as a Republican, set about to gather additional support and make his platform known. He currently operates a local tax abatement service which has been very successful in reducing taxes for over 1,000 families in District 16. Carbone has also been a school board member of District 46 in Grayslake for a number of years, fighting on behalf of homeowners who are struggling with high real estate taxes. He has fought to reduce the school budget costs by six million dollars as well as implemented a $100,000 “paperless system” savings to the taxpayers.
Carbone stated that he will continue to uphold the transparency and openness of the County Board and will hold more town hall meetings throughout the County if elected. You can hear more about Carbone’s platform in the following video taken at his campaign kick-off & fundraising event where you might also recognize a lot of other candidates in attendance.
