Round Lake Area Exchange Club Recognizes January 2016 Youth of the Month
According to the National Exchange Club website, “one of the most popular Exchange youth projects, the Youth of the Month Award recognizes hard-working high school students who attain high levels of scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership. This proven program not only rewards outstanding young people, but also provides an incentive for other youngsters to strive for equally high levels of achievement.”
The 2015-2016 Youth of the Month theme is, “responsible citizenship for a strong America!” The January 2016 Youth of the Month, Round Lake High School senior, Valeria Flores, was recognized at the Round Lake Area Exchange Club meeting on Wednesday, January 13. Exchange Club President, Jeanne Kearby presented Valeria with a certificate and an Amazon gift card. The RLAS-116 Board of Education also recognized Valeria at their meeting on January 25.
Valeria’s guidance counselor Alison Schusteff shared that Valeria has consistently been a stellar student at Round Lake High School, challenging herself in all honors and Advanced Placement courses. She stands out due to her commitment to our school and community, which she has shown in her involvement in Panther Crew, Dream Club, National Honor Society, French Honor Society, among others. Valeria also gives back to the community by serving as a member of Teen Court, as well as volunteering at the Round Lake Public Library every weekend. She always carries herself in a professional manner and her positive attitude is infectious!
