As a former volunteer at Save-A-Pet, I truly enjoyed my two hour visit today to see the ‘Kitten Shower” which was not only to find homes for the kittens but also a fund raiser to help with rising costs. I had to ask a volunteer why they called it a ‘shower’ and she explained it was like a ‘baby shower’ only for newborn kittens instead.
I arrived at noon to an already filled parking lot with the intention of only staying about 1/2 an hour. However, that all changed once I was in the ‘cat room’ where so many little critters wanted some attention. There was a constant stream of visitors and I saw quite a few people filling out adoption papers so hopefully a few cats, kittens, and dogs found new homes.
You can see from the video how spotless the staff and volunteers keep the facility, which was also the case when I used to volunteer. I even took a few minutes to walk down the aisles where the dogs are at and talked to each one. There were sure some nice healthy looking ones there for anyone interested in adopting a dog. You can visit their site at www.saveapetil.org for details and directions. While visiting their site be sure to take a look at their ‘wish list’ and consider dropping off some food supplies as well as litter for the cats. They would also be delighted to receive any monetary gifts and even have three ways of giving online.
There will be a contest starting May 19th that might allow Save-A-Pet to win up to $500,000 by simply clicking on a Facebook contest page but it only lasts for ONE WEEK. Visit their site for more details and enjoy the video of the “Kitten Shower”
