Planned sites remain unimproved
After lengthy public hearings this past September in regards to the proposed Waste Transfer Station that Groot Industries wants to build on the northeast corner of Route 120 and Porter Drive, there is yet to be any activity there. Instead, it appears as though it has already been planted for this years crop even though the Village of Round Lake Park voted to approve of the plans.
Back in 2012, Groot Industries also was seeking to build a Construction Demolition and Debris site on the northwest corner of Route 120 and Porter Drive. It also has not had any activity in regards to any construction being started. Both plans were met with a lot of objections by neighboring villages as well as residents who live in nearby subdivisions that will be effected by both the additional truck traffic and noise. Former Representative Sandy Cole also pointed out at one of Groot’s public presentations that they were using OLD maps that did NOT reflect the newer subdivisions even though those newer maps were readily available at the time.
The following short video shows what the current status is at the corner of Route 120 and Porter Drive in Round Lake Park where Groot is/was planning on building two separate entities.
