If you are still looking for something to do this coming Saturday, August 27th, you might stop by the Hainesville Fest which will be held at Union Square Park, north of the Union Square Townhomes on Haines Drive (not Hainesville Road). This event will take place from noon until 9:00 PM and will include arts, crafts, and exhibits as well as a beer tent and several snack booths. Former Round Lake Mayor Bill Gentes will be there with his latest venture. Cheese Force One, a mobile gourmet food truck featuring made on-site cheese sandwiches with several optional ingredients. I have heard that Circuit Court Clerk candidate, Gerald Dietz, is also expected to make an appearance. Entertainment will consist of the legendary Scotch Lads from 2;00 to 4:00 PM followed by an evening concert in the park from 6:00 to 9:00 PM which will feature the Jelly Bone Blues Band.
Swalco will be on site to demonstrate how old gym shoes can be recycled into several materials. Quoting from the Hainesville website:
Please gather all your worn out, even falling apart or just too small gym shoes and bring them to the Fest to be turned into Nike Grind materials.
Please NO wet or excessively muddy shoes! No light ups (batteries), cleats or spikes.
Do cut out any metal eyelets or metal zippers. Shoelaces are fine; please have them untied.
If you have any “gently worn” dress shoes, slip-ons or gym shoes these will be collected for a donation to Share Your Soles
