The Avon Township Board of Trustees held their regularly scheduled meeting on June 9, 2014 at the Avon Township Center. The meeting was moving right along after the earlier Special Meeting held to sell a portion of land to Lake County. Then, the topic of health insurance policy renewal came up. The Trustees had charts in their meeting packets which showed the existing policy features alongside the proposed renewal policy choices. From the discussion that followed, it appears as though they had narrowed it down to two options from the same health insurance provider, Blue Cross & Blue Shield. One would have the Township continue to pick up the entire cost of each employee’s premium cost and the other would have the employee paying 10% of the premium cost. After a lengthy discussion, no decision was made and a special meeting was scheduled for next Monday, June 19th at 6:30 PM at the Township offices (due to other activities at the Center it may be held in another room and is expected to be a short meeting). One thing to note here is that Avon Township Assessor Chris Ditton has stated that he will not allow his employees to have 10% taken out of their paychecks to pay for the premiums (40:40 mark in the video below). That was also discussed at this meeting in which Assessor Ditton was once again a “no-show“.
