This years Round Lake Home Town ‘Fest’ will be held August 27th from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. This is a free, fun event that all age groups are sure to enjoy. Tickets are required for Games, Bingo, Food, and Beer. There will be carnival games, a trackless train, pie baking contest (at 1:00 PM), a car and motorcycle show, a firetruck to climb on, face painting, approximately 30 craft booths and a dozen “Info” booths, Bingo (from 12-6 PM), puppet show (11:30-12 PM), and much more. You will have plenty of food choices such as tacos, ribs, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, brats, Polish sausage, cheese steaks, smoothies, and Italian ice. During the day, DJ Soundsationz will be spinning some discs to keep you entertained.
There will be several live performances including the following:
From 2:00 – 4:00 Tribute to Neil Diamond by Jeff Vescelius
From 4:00 – 6:00 Bar Stool Soldiers
From 6:00 – 8:00 Waterfront Dogs
One event that should be fun to watch will be the taco eating contest. There will be a ‘regular’ as well as a ‘spicy’ contest. The contests are expected to take place about noon and last until 1:00 depending on whether there are a sufficient number of participants that early in the ‘Fest’ to make it interesting. Keep in mind that the taco eating record is:
July 15, 2010, San Juan, Puerto Rico: 53 Taco Bell Soft Tacos in 12 minutes
We don’t know what the allotted time for the contest will be but if you can’t eat a dozen, you might just as well avoid the tummy ache that will come later.
The location of the Round Lake Home Town Festival is at Goodnow and Avalon, just a block south of Route 134 (across from the train station). Hope to see you there!
