This past Friday my neighbor, Carol, invited me to attend an International Banquet at her church, Living Waters Assembly of God, in Grayslake to kick off their “Missions Week”. As Carol explained it to me, various members of the congregation would be setting up tables with food from their native countries for everyone to enjoy followed by a guest missionary who would speak after everyone had eaten. I accepted her invitation and, as always, took my video camera along.
Needless to say, once you see the beginning of the video, there is no way that anyone would have been able to sample all of the great food that members had brought. Carol, whom you will see in the video with the Uncle Sam hat on, saved me a seat up front so I was able to shoot a video of Pastor Richard Valkanet as well as the guest speaker, Michael McNamee.
Besides Michael Mcnamee, who is a missionary working with Convoy of Hope – Europe (disaster relief) and church planting (building new) for the past 36 years, several other missionaries were in attendance including Otho and Janice Cooley, missionaries to the Philippines on the island of Mindinao for the past 17 years, Nick and Natalie Wiersma, formerly on staff at Living Waters Church, but for the last 5 years working for Convoy of Hope, world disaster relief, and Ben and Kathleen Struss, newly appointed missionaries to Indonesia.
I’m sure that you will enjoy listening to Michael McNamee who talks about how easy it is to just “swim with the current” rather than “against it”. If you would like to learn more about this congregation, visit their website at www.LivingWatersAG.org
