Please mark you calendar and join me as I and many others congratulate our local immigrants as they become American Citizens on September 17. 2012. Following is the announcement:

Representatives from the U.S. Citizenship & Information Services Department will administer a Naturalization Oath Ceremony to local and neighboring immigrants as they become new American Citizens. Mano a Mano Family Resource Center in partnership with the Round Lake Area Public Library will host the event. This first-time event in the Round Lake Area will take place on Monday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center. The public is welcome to attend.

Constitution Day and Citizenship Day is a combined event that is annually observed in the United States on September 17. This event commemorates the formation and signing of the Constitution of the United States on September 17, 1787. It also recognizes all who, by coming of age or by naturalization, have become US citizens. On September 17, we will welcome candidates who have come a long way to prepare for this life-changing naturalization ceremony.

Mano a Mano Family Resource Center and the Round Lake Area Public Library are partners in providing a quality Citizenship Program. Volunteer teachers prepare eligible permanent residents for their interview and civics test, as they move toward their path to citizenship. Mano a Mano also provides free assistance in completing the Application for Naturalization, and also provides free legal support. For more information about this program, contact Mano a Mano at (847) 201-1521.
