Round Lake Beach Village officials released details today announcing that Meijer’s had filed papers today to appear before the planning commission on March 13, 2014. Meijer’s proposal is to build a new 192,000 sq. ft. store where the old Wal-Mart now sits vacant along with much of the rest of the strip mall. If all goes as planned, which will take several months to go through the planning approval process, demolition will begin with the vacant Dominicks and progress around to the empty Wal-Mart building. It’s unsure at this time what sections might remain. If things go as planned it will be sometime in 2015 before they will be ready to open their doors. The Planning Commission meets at 7:00 at the Round Lake Beach Village Hall, 1937 North Municipal Way, Round Lake Beach, Illinois 60073 for those who would like to attend.
