Brand New Look for Avon Township Website
When I say “newest”, it’s because the Avon Township website has gone through several transistions since the former Township Supervisor, Sam Yingling, let the domain expire. Yingling never did explain why or how that happened but it’s no secret that there is still plenty of animosity between the current Board of Trustees and Yingling.
Another source of ongoing contention is between the Avon Township Assessor, Chris Ditton, and the Board. With all department budgets being cut proportionately across the entire Township, the assessors office felt the biggest impact. Rather than live within the funds allocated to his office, Ditton continued to spend beyond that allocation and eventually ran out of money for staffing the office. Thus, as you view their “newest” website you will notice that the assessors office is CLOSED. It’s unsure where Ditton spends most of his time since he still draws a salary but he claims to be busy out in the field backing up assessed values on properties that owners are protesting their taxes.
Notice on the “newest” Avon Township website that under the About Us tab, there is no mention of the Assessor running, generally on the slate that wins.
“Every four years, the registered voters of Avon Township elect a Township Supervisor, Township Highway Commissioner, Township Clerk and four Trustees to carry out the township’s business. We invite you to visit the “Official” Tab to learn about the officials serving in this term (2013 – 2017).”
Also note that under the Officials tab that there is no mention of the Assessor. About the only thing that you will find regarding the assessor’s office is a link that will direct you to a page that basically says “This office is currently closed”
The “newest” website is still a work in progress with bios still missing for the Trustees and meeting agendas still missing. At this upcoming Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting there will be some discussion on the 2015/2016 budget. It might be something worth attending.
