Although some bloggers have reported that the Gangnam Style video by Korean rapper sensation PSY has been taken off YouTube’s “Most Liked” list, I didn’t have any trouble finding it there. It is currently the “Most Viewed” as well as the “Most Liked” with 835,691,149 views compared to second place Justin Bieber’s “Baby” video with 805,990,721 and Jennifer Lopez “On The Floor” with 625,404,991 views.
Just for fun I had added the video as my Featured video in the right hand column a couple weeks ago because I was intrigued by it, especially watching a rapper who can perform without having to grab his crotch a hundred times to entertain us. Even the trio that was on The X-Factor (and recently eliminated) had a girl who had to keep grabbing at her crotch. That’s mainly why I never got into rap music, along with all the foul lyrics.
In PSY’s video he is riding an invisible horse, which I didn’t know at first, thinking he had just created some silly new dance.
PSY “Gangnam Style” is one of the first Korean pop singles to successfully cross over into the mainstream American media to the point that PSY is now signed with Scooter Braun, the man who grabbed Justin Bieber out of YouTube obscurity and molded him into a star. The video below is the one ranked Number One and the Featured video in the right column is a live performance of him singing his song and dancing.
