University of Illinois signs MOU; partners with Wanxiang Gov. Bruce Rauner toured Wanxiang facilities in Hangzhou, China. The Meemic Foundation supplies to local schools as part of Schools in Need program The Meemic Foundation, a non-profit organization created by Meemic Insurance Company, partnered up with local Illinois Meemic agents to surprise Murphy Elementary School in Round Lake Park with basic back-to-school supplies purchased through and a Second Step 1st-5th grade bundle on Friday, September 15th. Murphy Elementary is one of three schools in Illinois that will receive a supply donation, valued at over $5,000 as part of the Schools in Need program. Murphy Elementary was devastated by flooding that caused significant damage within the school this past July. Family Pet is Killed by Two Pit Bulls A 31-year old Round Lake Beach woman was treated for severe injuries after she tried to separate her family dog from two pit bulls. It happened around 8:00 AM on Sunday morning in the 200 block of S. Channel while she and her 2-year old daughter were in their backyard feeding some wildlife. When the two pit bulls, who had entered her yard, began to attack her dog, she immediately loosened his leash from a ground stake and ran with him into her house. The two dogs chased them and attacked her from the rear, leaving deep wounds on her back. They followed her inside and continued the attack on the family dog. She was successful in pulling one dog's mouth apart to release his grip, only to have the other dog continue the attack. She then used a child'

Campaign Signs for James Dietz and Terry Wilke are misrepresenting their true incumbency status If you know who your current elected officials are, you may think that you missed an election based on some of the campaign signs showing up in the area. For example, Terry Wilke is NOT the Avon Township Supervisor and James (Jim) Dietz is NOT the President/Mayor of Round Lake. Yet both are asking to be "re-elected". Wilke is a current Lake County Board member (District 16) and is running for Avon Township Supervisor. His campaign signs and I suspect his mailers, suggest that he be "re-elected". Machete Waving Suspect Arrested in Round Lake Beach

Rodrigo Acosta-Cabellero of the 1500 Block of East End Ave, Round Lake Beach, was arrested on several counts On 03/12/17 at 9:59 pm. the Round Lake Beach police department responded to a Domestic Battery call in the 1500 Block of East End Ave. Officers learned a subject had been punched in the head several times and was able to flee the scene. Further information revealed that four other subjects were barricaded in a bedroom as the suspect in the domestic battery was now armed with a machete and the four subjects feared for their safety. Those subjects eventually escaped through a window. Responding officers attempted to communicate with the suspect, Rodrigo Acosta-Cabellero who then came outside towards officers as he was waving a machete and yelling for officers to shoot him. At ...
