Police Commander David Hare to be appointed Chief on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 7 PM

Chief Gary Bitler recently publicized his retirement as Chief of Police after serving the community of Round Lake Beach for 35 years. Chief Bitler will be working with Mayor Hill and Commander Hare through March 28, 2014, to insure a smooth transition
David Hare began his career as a police officer for Round Lake Beach on January 6, 1992. During his tenure, he rose through the ranks of the department, and also attended both Northwestern School of Police and Command staff and the FBI National Academy.
Commander Hare holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois University and a
Master‘s degree in Public Administration from Roosevelt University. He has also been an adjunct instructor with Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety for seven years.
David has been married to his wife Kim for 19 years and together they are raising 3 children.
The Mayor will appoint Commander Hare as the new Chief of Police at a specially held board meeting at the Village Hall on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 7pm.
We are honored to have David Hare as the new Chief of Police for the community he has served so faithfully for the past 22 years.
There will be a retirement party for outgoing Chief Bitler on Friday, March 28th at the Cultural Center from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Everyone is invited to celebrate Police Chief Gary Bitler’s 35 years of dedicated service to the Village of Round Lake Beach.
This will be an open house and everyone is welcome to attend. The retirement celebration will include appetizers, a buffet style dinner, coffee and dessert. There will also be a cash bar. Please take a few minutes out of your busy schedule and stop by to wish Chief Bitler a happy retirement after his many years of dedicated service in protecting our community.
