General Assembly Minority Leaders Christine Radogno and Jim Durkin visit Lake County For Lake County Republican Federation Leadership Council Breakfast
State Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno and State House Minority Leader Jim Durkin traveled up to Lake County to warm up local Republicans on a cold morning with an update on Springfield to the Lake County Republican Federation Leadership Circle.
“Despite the chill in the air, Leaders Radogno and Durkin provided a lot of enthusiasm and energy to the gathered crowd,” said Federation President Larry Falbe. “It speaks highly of the importance of Lake County voters that the two minority leaders were so pleased to come up and energize local Republicans.”
Leader Durkin emphasized the importance of gaining seats in the house, pointing out candidates Leslie Munger and Rod Drobinski, who are running for the 59th and 62nd State House districts, respectively. Leader Radogno touched upon the need for Republicans to be unified in Springfield and on the campaign trail after the primary. Both answered questions from attendees, assisted by local State Representative Ed Sullivan of the 51st Legislative District.
Gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner, State Treasurer candidate Bob Grogan, and former Congressman Bob Dold, who is running to regain his seat the 10th Congressional District, were also in attendance, as were a number of local elected officials and candidates.
Leadership Council breakfasts are held semi-annually as a way for donors to connect with leaders in Republican politics. Past speakers have included John Tillman of the Illinois Policy Institute, the late State Representative Mark Beaubien, and the new Illinois Republican Party Chairman, Jack Dorgan.
