A minimum number must be at the special meeting on June 19th
At the most recent Avon Township monthly board meeting one of the topics on the agenda was to discuss and take action on the sale of Right-of-Way property to Lake County. The Right-of-Way land would consist of some of the property in front of the Avon Township Center on Washington Street in Round Lake Park. It is needed by the County to widen Washington Street to three lanes past the Township Center. According to the discussion there had been an appraisal done of the property in question and the County had agreed to the price. However, the Township’s attorney, Jerry Dietz, pointed out that the Township Board lacks the authority to sell the strip of land. As part of the purchase the County would relocate the Township Center’s sign as well as all utilities involved.
After a short discussion, a special meeting was scheduled for Thursday, June 19th at the Township Center at which time a minimum number of 15 residents must be in attendance to vote. The time of the meeting should be 7:00 PM since that is usually when their weeknight meetings start.
