Showing the Kids That the “Community Cares”.
An enthusiastic meeting to plan Back to School Celebrations was held at Magee Middle School with members from B.E.S.T., Principals from the various schools in Round Lake Area District 116, and other community leaders.
Attendees divided up by school to consider activities to welcome back students on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 20th. Suggestions ranged from getting the young students at the Early Education Center into their classrooms with the least amount of tears to having community leaders line the hallway as students come in on a red carpet at John T. Magee Middle School to taking aerial shots of students spelling out the word “Achieve” at Round Lake Middle School/Indian Hill School.
It is hoped that in addition to those at the meeting today, village officials, members of various Partners in Education, and any interested residents would come out to celebrate the start of a new school year. All are welcome.
Studies have shown that students do better when they have the support of their community.
if any community members would like to participate at their local school, please contact the principal.
