Families and community members of the Round Lake Area came out in full force this month to enjoy some amazing musical talent from the RLAS-116 students while also supporting the Fine Arts program at the All District Band and Choir Festivals.
Band and choir students from all levels (elementary, middle and high) came together to present outstanding performances while attendees bid on a variety of donated items. Some lucky individuals left with exciting items including: Disney World passes, Chicago sports teams signed memorabilia, tickets to museums, zoos and concerts, a family weekend in Chicago, many gift cards to local businesses, and so much more!
Event Committee Chair and parent of two RLAS-116 children, Amy Daniels stated, “I cannot be more proud of the work that was put into these events. It is because of the hard work of our children, the parents, the RLAS-116 staff and administration, our community and all of the sponsors of this event (there were 90!) that is was such a huge success! Between the two events, we were able to raise $6,750 for our kids!”
The RLAS-116 Fine Arts Boosters host several fundraisers throughout the year, but this has been the most successful to date. Funds are used to support things outside of the district budget, such as guest clinicians for the Band and Choir Fest. They also provide end of year scholarships to graduates and scholarships to current students for marching band captain, drum major and color guard captain leadership camp.
