Why not, if they are paying $750,000 annually to lease Pleviak
One of the items on the Round Lake Area School District 116 agenda at their regularly scheduled Committee of the Whole meeting, held on July 7, was a presentation touting the advantages of Full Day Kindergarten. Another presentation was made on the Spring 2014 Student Assessment Data showing recent changes in various areas of proficiency including math and reading. Colored handouts were available at the meeting and the same information is also included in the video below. Superintendent Dr. Constance Collins went into great detail explaining the 2013-2014 District Goals Updates. There were no public comments during the numerous opportunities to ask questions or make comments.
Two new administrators were introduced. They were Jennifer Arroyo who will be the new Assistant Principal at Murphy Elementary School in Round Lake Park and Eric Apgar who will be Director of Special Education for the District.
Around the 1:24:00 minute marker in the video you will hear Mr. Bill Johnston, Assistant Superintendent of Business & Operations, talk about the (temporary) need of several additional mobile classrooms at the High School. He mentions the number of parking spaces that will be eliminated as well as the consideration of buying versus leasing the classrooms. He was also one of the few who spoke directly into his microphone, for those of us in the back to hear, as you will notice most others never bothered to reach for theirs as if they were holding their own private meeting. (Thanks, Bill)
Prior to the Committee of the Whole meeting, there was a 12 minute Special Meeting where Mr Johnston talked about the need to amend the 2013-2014 budget. You can read more about that meeting as well as watch the video HERE
