Rollins Road Trip Down Memory Lane

This Video Was Created As A Time Capsule

Temporary Rollins Rd. bypass to be built
There will come a time when the old intersection of Rollins Road, Route 83, and Hainesville Road will be nothing but a faint memory for those of us around at the time. Thus, I put together this short video to help jog your memory in years to come. Let’s hope that the time frame doesn’t extend any longer than anticipated for the completion of the rail crossing overpass and reconfiguration of both Route 83 and Hainesville Road. As you will see in the video, there will be several houses on Hainesville Road, the vacant PNC Bank, as well as the vacant Payless Shoe strip mall that will meet the wrecking ball at the outset. I have drawn an estimated line where the temporary Rollins Road will be built as well as noted where the temporary rail crossing will be while they escavate for the new overpass and intersetions. The existing entrance to McDonald’s and Mallard Creek will shift to a brand new entrance to be constructed just west of McDonald’s.

I lived on Woodbine Drive, one block off Rollins. I watched the the Eagle grocery store being built. It’s now Big Lots. Saw an old barn tore down and replaced with a bank. Basically watched everything on Rollins being built up. Looking forward to seeing how this latest road project changes Rollins Road.
