Rollins – Rt. 83 Rail Crossing Closure Extended

Without any other specifics, I have been informed that the rail crossing repairs on Rollins Road just West of Route 83 have been extended for TWO more days and will reopen the morning of Thursday, 7/26/2012. The work originally had a completion time of Tuesday morning.

UPDATE: Tuesday 5:30 PM
There were no workers on the site and it appears as though they plan to pour about 8-10″ of asphalt on Wednesday in order to make the revised deadline of Thursday AM for opening the lanes. Have you ever seen such a poor concrete edge that they expect the asphalt to ‘stick’ to over a lengthy period of time? If they don’t clean up that cut there will be areas of asphalt that are less than an inch thick that will simply peel away within days. Makes you wonder why they didn’t use one of those big concrete flat saws rather than jack hammers.
