Who says there’s no free lunch?
The Community Eligibility Provision will provide students at Round Lake Area School District 116 free breakfasts and lunches. Don’t you just love it when they say “No Charge” as if nobody is paying for it? Taxpayers are the ones paying for it just like they will be paying over $18 million dollars for the lease of Pleviak Elementary School over the next ten years and have nothing more to show for it in the end than a bunch of cashed rent checks. Add that to the proposed $29 million building bond referendum that will be on the November 4th ballot and you are looking at close to $50 million in additional debt service over the next several years. The school board must think that money grows on trees!
