Doors opened at 7:00 AM June 2, 2014
For those who love their biscuits and gravy freshly made or a Hardee’s Frisco burger, the wait was over early this morning as the new Hardee’s in Round Lake Beach opened their doors. There was plenty of excitement inside as the well-trained staff prepared for opening day. Outside, the people started gathering at the entrance as well as the convenient drive-thru before the opening.
Vietnam veteran, Bob Massey, enjoyed one of the breakfast crowd favorites, biscuits and gravy. I sat and visited with him for awhile and he told me that although he lives in Round Lake Beach, he used to go to the Hardee’s in Grayslake years ago when there was one located at Rt.83 and Center Street. Massey also asked the manager if they offer a veteran’s discount and was told that “YES” they do.
Another gentleman that I spoke with was from Lake Villa who drives north of the border into Wisconsin border to get his favorite Hardee’s meals. He was also having one of his favorites, biscuits and gravy.
Outside I was able to get a quick photo of Carlene Dzierzynski who just happened to be the very first drive-thru customer. I’m not sure what she had ordered since there were cars lined up behind her and I didn’t want to hold things up too long.
Before leaving I had to try there freshly baked biscuits and gravy based on all the great comments I had heard and read about them. It’s not something that I would normally order since I am more an eggs, potatoes, and sausage guy but after sampling a couple, they have now become one of my favorites as well. Not to mention the fresh warm cinnamon bun that they treated me to before leaving. Those would be worth taking a few to work or back home for later day snacking.
They also offer free wi-fi and an endless cup of coffee for those of you who might want to sit with your laptop and do some computer work.
