Round Lake Heights Police Chief Salvages Annual Festival Parade

Thanks to Round Lake Police Chief, John Roehlk, there WILL be a 2012 Annual Round Lake Heights Festival parade on Saturday July 21. This will be their 19th parade and based on what I gleaned from the Chief’s Facebook page, it might not have happened. Below is what the Chief posted and it would appear that his efforts are paying off with plenty of participants:

Saturday July 21 11:00am is the 19th Annual Round Lake Heights Festival parade. This year’s parade will be our best ever! After a disappointing 2011 parade and the Village Board wanting to just cancel future parades, I volunteered to be the parade organizer. I quickly questioned why I spoke up and what I had gotten myself into. Last year’s parade consisted of 4 fire trucks, three police cars and a float with most of the Village Board. Scheduled and confirmed to appear this year are: The Village Board of Round Lake Heights, American Legion Post 1170 Color Guard, The Great Lake Naval Band, The Medinah Flying Genies & Their Flying Carpets, WRLR 98.3 FM, Frank Dean’s General Lee, Wauconda Police 911 Memorial Police Car (you’ve GFOT to see this car!!!), Don Otto’s Freedom Car, Ranger Police Terry Kaminski & K9 Nadja, Lakemoor Police Humvee, Lake Villa Police Can-Am & Humvee, McGruff the Crime Dog, A-Tire Service (with trucks from regular tow trucks to the big boys! Serving Lake County since 1959), The Red Bull Mini (handing out free Red Bull drinks), the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, The Round Lake High School Color Guard, American Eagles Gymnastics, Round Lake Heights Police Explorers, WLCX 102.3 FM, Round Lake Boy Scouts Troop 275, Cub Scouts Pack 99 and Crew 1170, State Rep. Sandy Cole, Rep. Robert Dold, Candidate for Lake County State’s Attorney Mike Nerheim, Lake County Sheriff’s Police, Illinois State Police.

The list is growing every day…Please make plans to attend the parade. Step off is at 11:00am.

The Festival begins at 12:00 noon on the grounds of Village Hall. Food, drink, raffles, 50/50, beer garden, games for the kids, car show (9 categories), crafters, 9-hole mini-golf, 98.3 FM DJ’s, live battle of the bands and fireworks at dusk( approx. 9:45pm)

If there is anyone out there that is part of a group or knows of a group that would like to participate in the parade, please contact me at (847) 546-9704 ext 311 or at
