Rt. 83 and Rollins Rd. Detour Starts Tomorrow, July 17

Unless you’ve been living under a rock to avoid the heat, you can’t help seeing the signs and reading the reports that the railroad crossing just west of Route 83 on Rollins Road will be closed for a WEEK starting Tuesday, July 17th.

The signed detour route will take traffic to Washington Street but unless your vehicle exceeds the weight limit on Shorewood, that is a much shorter detour. In addition, the new traffic signals recently installed at Shorewood and Hainesville Rd. makes it much easier to navigate the intersection. I suspect that Hook Drive just south of Home Depot will also be seeing an unusually large amount of traffic by locals familiar with the area. The closure is due to needed repairs to replace the rubber strips between the rails.
