It was an exciting night for the kids who braved the cold to see the Christmas tree being lit up along with Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving on a big red fire truck. After a short introduction by Mayor Rich Hill and several Christmas carols being sung by the Round Lake High School Choir everyone’s attention turned to the sirens and flashing lights of the fire trucks arriving. Once Santa and Mrs.Claus made their way to the podium, Mayor Hill asked everyone to start the countdown for the tree lighting.

Afterwards, everyone was invited to the Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center where all kinds of goodies and hot chocolate were being served while waiting to take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Entertainment was provided by the High School Choir who sang carols throughout the evening. There was a craft room set up for parents and their children to create their very own holiday decoration to take home with them. There was also a Holiday tree set up in the foyer for children to hang their hand-colored 75th Anniversary ornaments on. Even though the temperature had dropped 40* from the previous night, the turnout was great and the parking lot was full.
