Congressman Bob Dold stopped by the Round Lake Beachfest on Saturday and helped kick off the weekend festivities during the opening ceremonies. He was greeted by Trustees Judi Armstrong and Larry Mount upon his arrival in his large campaign bus. Last night I had the privilege to attend Congressman Joe Walsh's Veterans Commendation Ceremony honoring fifteen veterans of the Illinois 8th Congressional District. The ceremony was held at the VeHe Barn in Deer Park with many veterans, friends, and relatives in attendance. In most cases it was a family member who had submitted the application for the Commendation Award for consideration. Pastor Rick Valkanet said the invocation and closing benediction prayers and Rear Admiral John Mumaw (U.S. Army - Retired) made the opening remarks. Dold (IL-10) presented two 10th District veterans with medals they earned while serving their country and welcomed the Illinois Honor Flight to Washington. “On almost a daily basis I think about the sacrifices our veterans have made and talk to them at Naval Station Great Lakes, the James A. Lovell Federal Health Center or here in Washington, DC,” said Dold. “It was an honor to welcome the Illinois Honor Flight to Washington and to join them at the World War II Memorial. Duckworth Finally Agrees to Debate Walsh

On Friday, May 11th, Congressman Joe Walsh and Tammy Duckworth will have their first debate of the general election campaign. The debate, a CLTV "Politics Tonight" special, will be aired live at 6PM CDT from the WGN studios in Chicago. The show will also stream live on WGNtv.com and cltv.com. The debate, in roundtable format hosted by Paul Lisnek. This comes as a welcome change from the Duckworth campaign, which flatly refused Congressman Walsh's challenge to hold monthly debates from April through the November election.
