Chicagoland native Ronald Tarasiewicz was so moved by the attacks of 9/11 during grade school that as soon as he finished high school, he was ready to join the military and give back to the community. He also wanted a positive change that would afford him a better life and opportunity. Born in Oak Park and raised in Berwyn, Illinois, Ronald joined the Army in 2007.

As a sergeant, Ronald served as a team leader in human resources. His duties included providing administrative support to an assigned infantry battalion. He would also coordinate schedules and trainings with his battalion commander and sergeant major. In 2009, he was deployed to Afghanistan. After serving for five years, he was honorably discharged in 2012 and suffers from post-traumatic stress.

“My children are going to build lasting friendships and start their lives in a permanent place,” added Ronald. “I would express that there is no way that we can ever be more thankful for Operation Homefront’s Homes on the Homefront program and the amazing partnership with Chase. You all do wonderful things for veteran families.”
