State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is inviting local residents to join him and the Grayslake Oasis Youth Center for a Cider with Your Rep and toy and clothing drive event on Saturday, November 14 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Grayslake Oasis Youth Center, located at 151 Hawley St., in downtown Grayslake.
“With this new toy and clothing drive, we want to help ensure that even those families who are struggling to meet the essentials are able to provide a happy holiday for their children,” Yingling said. “I invite residents to stop by for cider and to donate a toy or warm clothing to help ensure that all families have a holiday season filled with cheer.”
Similar to his one-of-a-kind Coffee Shop Stops, Yingling will be meeting with constituents over cider at the local youth center from 10:00 a.m. to noon on November 14. Residents are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift cards or piece of winter clothing, to be donated to local families later in the year. They are also encouraged to stay for cider and a conversation about state and local issues.
“The Oasis opened in 2008 and runs on 100 percent donations. We serve 15,000-20,000 people per year from all over Lake County,” Joyce Campbell, founder of Oasis said. “We feel it’s important to provide a safe place for teens and look forward to our continued work with Representative Yingling.”
Residents unable to attend can also donate directly to the center. The Oasis is a 501c3 non-profit and all monetary donations to them are tax deductible. For more information, please contact Yingling’s office by phone at 847-231-6262 or by email at RepSamYingling@gmail.com.
Yingling represents the 62nd District, which contains portions of Gages Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Hainesville, the Round Lake communities, Wauconda and Wildwood.
