1 Dead In Lindenhurst Shooting

A man was shot dead at a home in Lindenhurst early Tuesday, police said. Aurhorities were called to the single-family residence in the 300 block of Teal Road in Lindenhurst at about 2:30 a.m. for a possible robbery. Lindenhurst officers learned from the 911 caller that someone had been shot during the incident, according to a news release.

Lindenhurst officers arrived and found a man dead at the scene.

The shooting appears to be an isolated event and there is no active threat to the community, police said.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy this afternoon. The name of the man who was fatally shot has not yet been released.

Lindenhurst Investigators and Lake County Major Crime Task Force Investigators are investigating the incident.

How can they say there is no threat to the community? If it was random, it can happen again at any time. They should have at least advised the community to keep their doors and windows locked and keep outside lights on. The perpetrator is still at large so I would think they are “active”, until caught or the murder victim is found to have been targeted.
