“He should go home,” Biden said of Trump to yells and cheers. “He should go home.”

Biden made the remarks at a house party hosted by former Iowa governor and ex-U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack.

“The way he spoke about four members of Congress, no matter what you think as a politician, he talks about going back to the awful countries that they’re from — Brooklyn, Michigan,” Biden said, to laughter. “It’s a flat, racist attack.”

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, who were the targets of Trump’s Sunday tweets, lashed back at the president on Monday, casting his words as a “bile of garbage.”

Omar is the only one of the four born outside the United States.

Biden was later asked by an audience member to lay out why he’s the best candidate to beat Trump. In addition to laying out a background on foreign policy and working with world leaders, Biden said he had a different kind of experience.

“I’m used to dealing with bullies,” Biden said. “This guy is a bully. I’m not going to get down in the gutter with him. I’m not going to get down and trade nicknames … But the truth of the matter is, I’m not going to yield at all to this man.”

Asked after the event about Republicans not commenting on Trump’s tweet, Biden said: “most Republicans won’t call the president’s tweets racist, it’s incredibly disappointing.”
