Two suspects who wore red face masks and used an AK-47 rifle are being sought following what the FBI described as a takeover-type bank robbery in Gurnee late Monday morning.
According to an FBI statement released Tuesday, the white couple escaped in a blue 2015 to 2018 Nissan Rogue from the Norstate bank at 5384 Grand Ave.
The statement added that it was a takeover-type robbery, which the agency describes as one where the suspects draw attention to themselves as opposed to a non-takeover, where the suspect tries to stay unnoticed.
According to the FBI, the first suspect was described as a white woman about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds and carrying a black duffel bag. She was wearing a red face mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
The second suspect was described as 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was wearing a similar red face mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black “Jordan” brand shoes with a red sole, according to the FBI.
