Offender: Marcos G. Ortega-Vincente, 30 years old, of the 900 Block of N. Kenilworth Dr, Round Lake Beach
On February 17, 2019, at 7:59 pm. our department received a call for a well-being check regarding a truck that was parked in the middle of the road in the 900 Block of Kenilworth. The responding officer located the truck in a driveway in that area and observed a subject later found to be Marcos G. Ortega-Vincente, slumped over in the driver’s seat of the truck. The truck was not running, and due to the cold temperatures, the officer was concerned for the safety of the subject. The officer was able to wake the subject, who appeared to be intoxicated. The officer helped the subject to the door of the home the truck was parked at, in hopes of getting him inside and to ensure he was safe. The subject could not get the locked door open and then walked away from the officer and into the roadway. The officer then went to the subject and attempted to get him out of the roadway for his own safety and to bring him back to the home. The subject then attacked the officer, attempting to tackle him and trying to take the officer to the ground during which the subject grabbed at the officers weapon but the officer was able to retain his weapon. Marcus G. Ortega-Vincente was taken into custody and transported to the Round Lake Beach holding facility.
The officer received what appears to be minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and was later released. The officer is currently recovering from his injuries.
Marcos G. Ortega-Vincente was charged with the following and is being held at the Round Lake Beach holding facility pending transportation to Bond Court on February 19, 2019.
